Cameron Albertson has been a part of the BPA team since the beginning. After successfully making it through regionals and state, he got fourth place and is moving onto Nationals May 10-14.
In December, the team competed at regionals at Ivy Tech in Sellersburg. They did well and sent several members onto state, which was held recently in Indianapolis.
At that competition, Cameron and Evan Carroll both placed successfully, leaving Cameron to move onto Nationals. Everyone else who is part of the BPA did not move on, but they still did great according to BPA Sponsor Chandra White.
“There were around 1,700 other students at state competing this year, it was an amazing experience!” White said.
There are many people on the BPA team including Albertson, Josh Burton, Evan Carroll, Jada Cooley, Jonny Tally, Hunter Rutherford, Carson Albertson, Cole Roberts, Van Stephens, Dallin Thomas, Gunner Walton, Ryder Wilson and Donevan Zinser.
BPA stands for Business Professionals of America. It is an organization where students can obtain great workplace skills through experience. The experience includes competing in competitions, creating presentations, attending events, participating in workshops and volunteering. Leadership, networking opportunities and workplace skills are some of the most useful skills learned while being a part of the BPA.
White said that although, business is part of the acronym, it doesn’t just help students who are looking to pursue business. BPA helps students in all different types of careers.
Carroll has also been with the BPA team since the beginning, which was three years ago. Tally and Burton have been a part of the BPA for two years. All the other members are new this year.
“BPA has helped me grow as a future leader in the business world,” Tally said. “Being in the group we learn more ways to be professional, and anything that could potentially help them. I loved being in BPA.”
