Tara Kritzer knows what it's like to be part of a club that changes your life. That's one reason she is excited to take over as the sponsor for the drama club at Salem High School.
"I took the role of sponsor for the drama club because it is near and dear to my heart ever since I was little,” she said.
Drama club is an opportunity for students to express their interest in acting and theater. Kritzer plans for the future a fall play and spring musical.
Senior Alli Elliot said, ¨I got to learn from a lot of people and I got to know the teacher and feel the role as a actor.¨
All students can join and are even encouraged to come check it out. Kritzer offered many reasons students should join the club, including gaining skills that students can use in the future.
"Theater can help students become more comfortable with public speaking," she said, adding, “Theater prepared me for real life more than anything.”
Even with a late start to the year, Kritzer holds herself up to a high standard. If students don’t want to be on the stage, builders, helpers and artists are much appreciated to help build the set. Many of these things look amazing on a transcript and can help develop real-world skills.
“ I’m looking forward to meeting the kids as a new teacher and building a bond with them,” she said. "I'm just looking for students who are passionate. Passion is something I can work with!"

¨I never believed 30 years after my last curtain call that I would be honored with this role,¨ Kritzer said.
