In sixth grade, Amy Collins will be the new language arts teacher. Collins has previously taught at the elementary school. She replaces Amy Abner, who has moved to sixth grade digital citizenship.
Another elementary school teacher making the move to the middle school level is Bev Sweeney, who will teach 7th grade math. She is taking over for Elizabeth Heightchew who will teach 7th grade science.
Randy Nichols, who taught science, has moved into the special education classroom, vacated by recently retired teacher Lana Humphrey.
Courtney Henry, who has been a study hall monitor the last couple of school years, will move into the 8th grade language arts position.
Other new staff members include: Jennifer Morris, who will teach 7th grade business and technology; Lisa Eager in 7th grade social studies and Jennifer Maudlin who will be an instructional assistant.
Michelle Walton, who joined the staff second semester last year, will be in 8th grade special education.
“We look forward to having some familiar faces in new places,” said Albertson. “It is an exciting start to the school year, and a new chapter in their teaching careers.”
