Salem Middle School will host the Holiday Choir Concert, Cookie Walk and the Festival of Trees and Silent Auction on Friday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. in the Trueblood Performing Arts Center. We hope you can join us!
Lions 104 visited the Salem Apothecary to practice their money skills. Students sat up to the 100+ year-old soda fountain and enjoyed a variety of shakes, sundaes and candy, while owner/pharmacist Rebecca Marshall talked about the history of the Apothecary, including her skills in compounding for humans and even the occasional family pet.
Life Skills teacher Dusty Baker presented Marshall with a coloring page sketch of the Apothecary as a thank you for the warm welcome.
Lions 104 wrapped up a two week cultural unit on Halloween & Dia de los Muertos with a cake decorated with edible monarch butterflies.
Students celebrated the lives of loved ones who had passed on and enjoyed sharing stories about their families.

The Language Arts Department will celebrate the reading of "A Christmas Carol" with a fun activity. The teachers are currently taking donations of snack items for the students to enjoy as part of their celebration. This is for students in grades 6-8.
If you would like to help by donating a snack item, please see the list and send them by Dec. 11.

The dentist is coming to our school! The School Smiles on-site dental program provides on-site dental care at our school for ALL students that signup to participate. The dental team will set up inside our school and they accept Medicaid, private insurance, offer self-pay rates and grants through their foundation.

SMS 8th grade math teacher Rebecca Consley was proud of student Bert Engler, who led his class today after teaching himself how to do the math.
Ms. Myers 6th grade students have been studying bacteria and viruses. They spent a day in the STEAM lab testing why soap and hand washing are important!

Honor students in Mrs. Mahuron's sixth grade science classes are using their creativity to learn about the process of photosynthesis by painting clay pots and planting spider baby plants they have rooted in water.
