As winter weather approaches, here’s a quick guide to what each schedule change means:

2-Hour Delay:
Schools open two hours later than normal. Buses run on a delay, and students report in person.

Asynchronous Learning Day:
School buildings are closed, and students complete assignments independently at home. Teachers will post work on Google Classroom by 9:00 AM.

Synchronous Learning Day:
School buildings are closed, but students follow a live online schedule with their teachers. Attendance is taken through virtual sessions.

Please check our social media pages and make sure your phone number is up-to-date with your child's school to stay informed of school closings.

Due to inclement weather, Salem Community Schools will have a synchronous e-learning day tomorrow, Monday, December 15th. Students are to follow the synchronous live schedule for their respective building. Information can be found on your students' Google Classroom pages. There will be no AM or PM Prosser.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Salem Middle School library Dec. 8-12! Students will have a chance to visit during their Language Arts class.Get them prepared by visiting https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/salemmiddleschool4 where you can also create a Book Fair eWallet.

SMS is taking donations for the Care Closet until Dec. 5. Thank you for supporting our SMS students!

FCA created a Thankful Turkey to display in the lunchroom this week. Special thanks to Gwen Dowling for helping them create the Turkey and feathers!

As colder weather approaches, please ensure that your child's jacket is labeled with their name. Our Lost and Found is already filling up!

This afternoon, all SMS students will bring home a permission form to attend The Nutcracker performance on Dec. 17. Please ask your child about this form and return it to their language arts teacher by Nov. 12.

ELA classes will be attending the Nutcracker play in December and to help offset costs they will be hosting a Hat Day this Friday. Pay $1 and wear a hat!

Salem Middle School will participate in the Fill the Bed Challenge. Items may be brought into the school to donate. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

5th and 6th grade boys basketball tryouts will be Oct. 28.
