Students in Amy Abner's language arts classes took a virtual field trip to the 9-11 Memorial in NYC as part of a student-led inquiry projects about 9-11.

Bailee Robbins came in second at the SMS Invitational last night! Coach Gwinn Miller said Bailee and the Corydon runner battled to the very end! Congratulations, Bailee!

These two students are rolling large dice and then using a chart and calculator for adding during a project in functional math class with Ms. Baker.

Mrs. Gray's digital citizenship classes have been spending the last two days in the STEAM lab with Mrs. Morgan where they have been creating circuits with the Makey Makey.









Students in Rebecca Consley's math classes are doing a "Whodunnit?!" activity which is similar to the game Clue. They solve the math clues and figure out who did it, where the did it and how they did it. The kids are LOVING this fun way of learning and completing math equations.

Mrs. Abner's language arts classes are the first group of sixth graders to utilize the new STEAM lab! Her students have been learning about courage and are creating flyers to display showing what courage means to them and giving advice about how to find courage when it is needed most.





Hey sixth grade parents, fall break is quickly approaching! Sign your child up for a week of fun through the YMCA at their fall break camp!

Students in Randy Nichols' 7th grade science classes are learning about the engineering design process this week with Mrs. Morgan in the STEAM lab. They have been designing rubber band race cars.









Students in Mrs. Gray's sixth grade digital citizenship classes are building towers as high as they can without letting the towers fall over. The challenge is to use only paper and they have to stand unsupported for at least 3 minutes. Students are learning to define their problem, brainstorm and research possible solutions and put their plan into action. They will then reflect on the project and what they do better next time.










Students in Mrs. Abner's sixth-grade class participated in student-led book discussions this week in language arts.




Salem Families, The power at the schools has been back on since 7:45am and our buses are running. They may be a bit slower than normal due to some road conditions.
Good Morning Salem Families. We will be on a 2 hour delay this morning, Monday, Aug. 7 due to hazardous road conditions and the ongoing power outages caused by overnight storms. Our morning Prosser bus will not run.
Students in Ms. Consley's math class played ice breaker games, getting to know their classmates at the start of the year.


SMS students will need to stop by the Brick Gym tomorrow to pick up a new schedule when they arrive at school.
