Salem Middle School is having a dress up week! Let's have some fun to kick off the first week of May!

We hope everyone can join us for a fun night of science Thursday night!

Due to the expected incoming severe weather, we are going to dismiss at 1:00 pm today. This dismissal will allow us to transport all students home, as well as have our bus drivers return before the weather arrives.
The safe rooms at all three school buildings will be open to the community for tornado warnings.

SMS announces Students of the Month and Staff Member of the Month for March!
Sixth grade: Tateum Burnett and Mason Craig; seventh grade: Mykenzie Brown and Clair Schmultz; eighth grade: Jazlyn Edge and Bentley Bartron. Staff Member: Alan Foughty-Killion. Congratulations to everyone!

In honor of Sports Month in the library, students participated in a round of Pool Noodle Foosball. Students can also sign up to play in a Basketball Shooting competition over the next two weeks during their lunch. Mr. Albertson and Mrs. Mires even joined in on the fun!
Mrs. Stewart’s 7th grade LA honors class is currently reading the novel, Schooled. The main character in the book leads the school in a tie dye activity in art class, so they took this idea to the STEAM Lab. They spent a day practicing different ways to tie dye and then brought in their own items and created their own creations. They did a great job!

The SMS Drama Club will have a show March 16 and 17 at the Trueblood Performing Arts Center. Come support the arts!

SMS Students of the Month for February were recognized by their teachers for their outstanding effort and behavior in the classroom. They are:

Seventh grade: Maddox Sparkman and Grace Hammond
Sixth grade: Kailyn Casey-Strong and Callie Robbins
Congratulations to everyone!

Join us for Night of the Arts on Monday, March 4, in the ROC (new gym) at SMS from 6-8 p.m.

As a precaution, if tornado warnings are issued this evening, all three safe rooms on the Salem Community Schools campus will be open for those who need a place to take shelter.
